Steps to reproduce:

open Firefox or open a new tab in Firefox

Actual results:

this text is standing by default in the address bar:
"Search with Google or enter address"

Expected results:

there should be at least the option to disable the text,
is it in about:config or in preferences

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thank for your feedback, we think that placeholder text is actively helping our users, thus we don't plan to provide an option, because it could be misused. In general we try to avoid providing options that may lower the user experience of the product.
You can use a userchrome hack to hide it, probably.
