** Observed with 10/22/99 Win32 build ** This bug occurs only when either Ukrainian or Russian auto-detection is turned on. It basically disables all input functionality in location field, Composer, Text Editor, and Mail Composer. There may be a few places where you can still input, e.g. URL in Open/Web Location dialog box. But generally no cursor can be inserted into any text field and keyboard presses have no effect. Here's how you can reproduce this bug. 1. First auto-detection should be OFF. 2. Now bring up mozilla.exe. Note that the URL field has www.mozilla.org URL. When input is working, you'll see this field with an URL in it. 3. Now turn on either Ukrainian or Russian Detector via View | Auto-Detect menu. 4. After the page has reloaded quit Mozilla. 5. Now bring up Mozilla again. Note that this time the Location field contains no URL though the Mozilla Home page has loaded. 6. Try inputting ASCII characters into the Location field. Nothing happens. 7. Open Composer, Editor, or Mail Composer and try inputting any character, no input will be possible. 8. Now turn off Auto-Detection and re-start Mozilla. 9. You'll now see the Location field filled with a Home Page URL and input is possible in all the areas where you could not in steps 6 and 7 above.

Mark it as M14- We should either take out this Russian/Ukrainian detectors or fix the problem by beta.

I'm marking this verified because I agree with ftang that this is a dup.
