Steps to reproduce:
From any page do a right click to access the context menu.
Actual results:
The pop-up menu is displayed, but the background of the menu is transparent which makes it difficult to read on lighter web pages.
Expected results:
If the intention is that the pop-up menu is meant to be transparent, but darker so it is still readable, then this would be fine. Or a solid background (which was the case until a couple of weeks ago).

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Menus' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

This is definitely not intentional. I cannot reproduce on my local Linux VM - can you provide more details about your Firefox theme, your window manager, and window manager / gtk theme?
Alternatively/also, perhaps can you narrow down when this broke? We have a semi-automated tool that can bisect builds by downloading them: https://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/ (on Linux, installing this with pip and using from the commandline might be easiest if you're comfortable with th ecommandline), all you need to do is indicate when it works (usable menu) or doesn't work (transparent menu).

In order to study this a bit more closely I logged out of my normal desktop and logged into Linux Mint 20's default Cinnamon window manager.
The same issue wasn't appearing on there.
Logged back out and then back into i3wm which is my normal window manager, and the problem is still gone!
Looks like it is a weird intersection of window manager, composite manager (Compton) and Firefox Nightly which disappears when I log into Cinnamon and then back.
I had tried changing the gtk theme without fixing the issue, but I hadn't tried changing the window manager!

Hm, so is this now working correctly for you? Or are you still able to reproduce the issue? If not, we might just close this for now and reopen if the issue reappears, I guess? Without anyone being able to reproduce it's definitely going to be difficult to make progress. :-)

If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .
