Details

If you type in a partial URL in the URL bar, then switch tabs the portion
already entered disappears.  

kartoo.com shows this in a particularly annoying way - clicking on a url in
their flash window replaces their flash app with the new page, but if you forget
the spelling of a page, you can't do it halfway, then fill out the rest after
reconsulting the kartoo page as the part you already filled in is now gone. 
Resorting to pencil and paper seems a bit backwards. 

To repeat :
    Open two tabs. 
    In one, type anything you like in the url bar.
    Switch to the other tab.
    Switch back.  The url bar now shows "about:blank" (for me at least)
