We still use some custom colours for which we could use standard in-content colours.

How about this? When you want to test on High Contrast, then you should apply bug 1711025.

I removed a lot of code in the platform specific files which seem to be no more used or behave weird (the menulist code).

Indeed, I was planning on doing this clean up in a follow up bug, but you're faster than me.
Thanks for taking care of it.

Please fix the commit message, there's a missing "c" in the word Account.
