Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Steps to reproduce:
Try to print anything from Firefox
Actual results:
Print job starts, a blank page comes out, and printer says "load paper - press OK" before the actual text and the rest of the document will print
Expected results:
The document should just begin to print without a blank page and/or having to press the OK button on the printer

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Printing: Setup' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Huh, which printer is this? And, did this work in the past? (presumably yes, per the title)
If so, it'd be extremely helpful if you could try mozregression to see what broke this.

Marking as S3 for now, assuming this is affecting some specific printer rather than all users/printers.
It sounds like some kind of driver-specific option involving paper feed has gotten confused, and the setting has "stuck" so that it gets applied every time.
Does the same happen if you use the "Print using system dialog" option (at the bottom of the right-hand side of the Firefox print panel)?

Sorry - its an HP M1217nfw MFP connected to my ethernet network, not directly to my computer. Yes, it absolutely worked fine prior to the 88.0 update.
I'll try the mozregression.
Thanks.
Update: 5/26/21
NO using the Print using system dialog box does NOT correct the problem. My system hates mozregression and will not let me install it.
I can print fine from EDGE without the blank page. The problem is limited to FIREFOX

I cannot get Mozregression to install. Bitdefender thinks its a virus and quarantines it. I'm hesitant to turn off the virus protection in case its correct.

If you downloaded it from the page I linked to it's not a virus. We've had a few false positives with antiviruses, see bug 1647533 (where there seems to be some recent progress). It's definitely something that would allow us to dig into this... William, is this one known?
Alternatively, by any chance, is it fixed on Nightly?

Barbara, was it the installer that BitDefender classified as a virus? I just submitted the installer to bitdefender, which might help: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29358/
(someone else may want to submit the actual executable for 4.0.17 as well, I don't have time for that right now)

I am embarrassed to tell you all I figured it out. First I want to say I HATE the new interface, that being said, apparently when I set it to print double sided a while back, the setting STUCK, instead of re-setting back to single page printing, which it has always done for me in the past. For whatever reason I just realized what the heck was going on. I changed the two-sided printing block to OFF and its works fine. So sorry. I hate and love that it was that simple. Bottom line, all resolved.

YES. It was the INSTALLER
Thanks for submitting it to Bitdefender

First I want to say I HATE the new interface, that being said, apparently when I set it to print double sided a while back, the setting STUCK, instead of re-setting back to single page printing.
That is intentional behavior (per-printer settings are saved under the assumption that printing with the same settings over and over is the common case).

Ouch, well, I'm glad it was not a Firefox bug after all... Perhaps the printer could emit a message or something, or we could detect two sided printing is on/off? Do you know if the switch is a software or a hardware one? Ideally Windows wouldn't report two-sided printing is supported if the switch is off.
Anyhow, glad you could figure this out. For reference, there's a button in about:support
which clears all the saved print settings, and is useful to troubleshoot this kind of stuff.
