Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Steps to reproduce:
-
Cleared cache multiple times.
-
Deleted history multiple times.
-
Restarted browser multiple times.
-
Restarted laptop few times.
-
Disabled ad blockers.
Actual results:
Nothing happened.
Gmail will not open on Firefox if the browser is closed. Gmail won't load even after clearing the cache, restarting the laptop, restarting Firefox, disabling ad blockers etc. It's only after multiple attempts and wasting a least 30 minutes that Firefox will load Gmail. This issue does not arise with Chrome or Microsoft Edge. I've seen many people complain about this on the web, and there's still no solution from Firefox.
Expected results:
This problem shouldn't exist to begin with.

Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables add-ons, extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems.) See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
And does this also happen with a new and empty profile? See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile
I have manually disabled add-ons (all I have is an ad blocker), but have not tried safe mode yet.
I also have not tried it with a new and empty profile; frankly, I want Firefox to load Gmail on my existing profile without causing this much grie.
That's not the reason, however, why I didn't try it with an empty profile or safe-mode - when I had Googled for solutions earlier, lots of people were complaining about the same problem and I was simply trying out their suggested solutions in order.

The goal of testing in Safe Mode (now called Troubleshooting Mode) and testing in a new profile isn't to get you to dump your existing profile. The goal is to learn what is causing the problem, and temporarily using Troubleshooting Mode or a new profile will narrow down the potential causes suggest where to explore next.
Hi shoatie,
I tested this issue in Firefox Release version 89.0 (64 bit) and Firefox Nightly 91.0a1 (2021-06-15) (64-bit) but I was unable to reproduce it.
Would you consider the suggestions given on previous comments in order to narrow down the issue? Please note that you can still keep your main profile, create a fresh new one and test if you are able to open Gmail using the new profile.
Thanks in advance,
Virginia

Hi,
I'm marking this as Resolved-Incomplete due to lack of response. If the issue is still reproducible with the latest Firefox version, feel free to reopen the bug with more information.
Thanks,
