Julian, would you be able to give me some insight why we want to back out a change that was done only 4 months ago?

Apologies, this fell off of my radar, and our team is just now getting staffed up to tackle one-off bugs.

Amy, is this string still something your team wants a recommendation on? I worked on this many months ago, recommending we use the simpler string, "Search the web" in place of "Search with google or enter address." I understand that the default behavior now is that when someone types into the search field in the center of New Tab, we automatically send them up to the address bar — if that's the case, then it doesn't feel necessary to explain that they can enter an address as this is the original purpose of the address bar. Chrome has the more detailed string but they do not have the same behavior of sending someone to the address bar.

Hi Amy, I think we need product management involvement since this is a prominent string for Search. Do you know who would be point of contact for prioritizing and reviewing this work? Would it be Neha?

An FYI on process: In general, given our limited resources, requests like this (without PM sponsorship) fall into our misc. bucket and we take them on as we can. I have more staff now and so I am in the process of triaging requests (so things don't sit). In general, we ask that PM be involved in giving work the green light to happen when it has potential to impact engagement, or if the work is larger (this isn't so large because it is strings-only and one surface). String changes implicate localization work, too, so having PM approval is helpful.

Hi Meridel, that all makes total sense. This was remainder work from the redesign project from last year, so definitely worth revisiting if this is still needed. I'm going to loop in Chris who is the new manager for the Search team— Hi Chris, do you know who the point of contact is for prioritizing search-related work? Perhaps we need to adjust the prioritization level here.
