I suppose we could dynamically generate a special "full screen" toolbar when you go into full screen mode, rather than just using the primary toolbar, but I don't know if that is a good idea. It's my opinion that if you change your primary toolbar around, that's the toolbar you will get when you go into full screen mode, urlbar or not.

If I fill up my primary toolbar with other buttons and search fields (and move or remove the addressfield) I don't want you screwing that up just because I go to fullscreen mode. If I wanted the addressbar in that toolbar I'd put it there.

what about adding a new toolbar, say the "Fullscreen Toolbar", which can be separately modified?

I'm with coment #4. I use the url bar when not in fullscreen mode, but when in fullscreen I want nothing but the content area. So I would set my "fullscreen toolbar" to be inexistent, empty or 1 pixel tall.

Seems to me that Bug 176408 could be rolled into this one as well. It is an RFE to allow fullscreen Phoenix to display without a Toolbar. A separately configurable (and disable-able) Fullscreen Toolbar would fill that bill nicely. If so, we have another Dup for this bug!

Updating summary. What this bug is really calling for is a different implementation of either fullscreen or toolbar customizing. Setting severity to enhancement.

I posted 273926 and then marked it as a dupe of this bug. In 273926 I noted that I expected the Ctrl+L dialog to appear when the location bar is hidden. If the location bar is moved to the Menubar, and the Menubar is hidden in fullscreen/kiosk mode, it seems that pressing Ctrl+L is selected the URL in the location bar even though it is hidden. The expected action would be that the Ctrl+L dialog box would appear (or a similar dialog box). I would consider this a "minor loss in functionality", and therefore the severity should probably be changed from "Enhancement" to "Minor", since I am prevented from changing my location. I think this would satisfy the other comments in this thread without attempting to dynamically generate a new toolbar or create a new customizable toolbar altogether. All we really need is the location dialog - "Open Web Location" I'm not changing the severity, and will leave this to the next person who agrees.

I'd like no toolbars at all. I.e. use the full screen to show a webpage, without distracting popup menus. Just like the other popular browsers.

I don't think we will realistically fix this particular use case (customized URL bar combined with full screen).
