RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1692100

People

(Reporter: erwinm, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0

Steps to reproduce:

See related bug for Firefox print dialogue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1692100

Tested Daily in Mozregression.

Regressed by: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D115673

Actual results:

Migraine.

It opens a modal, covering part of the window.

If I try to scroll, because it only covers part of the window, there's a lot of extra sheering pain around it.

If I go into the preferences menu, and search print, no option to avoid this dialogue appears.

Other bugs say that the plan is to remove old printing code w/o any accessible replacement.

Expected results:

It'd help if there wasn't as much or as intense flashing, and if the dialogue used the whole window, and if the edge between scrolling and non-scrolling elements was as far from users' expected focus as possible.

It'd also help if system print dialogues were still an option.

Hi Marja, unfortunately I don't think there's much Thunderbird can do about this, as we're just using the Mozilla platform code for printing.

So your best bet is platform bug 1692100 - you can try there to get some of the pain points eliminated depending on prefers-reduced-motion preference.

Depends on: 1692100

Let's dupe it. It's shared code.
