Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Browse to page 2. Middle-Click on background, or on non link text Actual Results: A random web page is displayed. Within each mozilla session, a particular web page is displayed. The web page changes randomly between sessions. Expected Results: No action Have the "Open tabs instead of windows for" "Middle-click or control click in a web page" preference selected. If you need to know of any other preference settings, pleas ask.
This is a feature. Middle clicking non-link on non-form widget loads the URL from the clipboard. This is analoguos to URL drag&drop onto the content area on Mac.

Ahhhh, I understand now, and feel rarther foolish. If anyone still feels this is a bug maybe they should look at bug 70498 They may also want to consider adding the following preference to their user.js file: "middlemouse.contentLoadURL" Maybe consider making this a duplicate of bug 70498, instead of marking it as invlaid? A search for the string "middlemouse.contentLoadURL" in bugzilla also turns up a nice list of interesting bugs. of related bugs.
