MathML is incorrectly rendered in the Symbol font in even the simplest examples, so a plain variable "x" becomes the Greek letter xi.

My current build is 2002092611, but this has been happening since at least 1.2 alpha, maybe longer.
I'm uncertain to what extent MathML is presently expected to work on OS 9. rbs@maths.uq.edu.au?
Known issue. A work around is described here: http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=3D6EB021.8FC1A9FE%40maths.uq.edu.au *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 161137 ***

Thanks, the workaround does do the trick! However, I don't have the TeX fonts installed as bug 161137 seems to imply, so I'm not sure I understand how it's a duplicate. Could it mean that 161137 has become more general than it was before?
Do you get a correct rendering when you just remove "Symbol, " from the math's font-family list? If som then it would mean that something weird is happening with the Symbol font too.
