Thunderbird for Windows 7 & 10, open an eMail in "a new message window" fills the entire screen

Steps to reproduce:
I have the latest update of Thunderbird v78.11.0 (64bit).
After I got this update, when I open an eMail in "a new message window", that eMail fills it's window from top to the bottom of the monitor screen. If you attempt to re-size that windows at it top and drag it down a little to shorten that window's height, that window will either lower itself so that it's top will be half way down the screen, lower itself so that it's top is about 2 inches from the bottom of the screen or disappear.
This didn't happen with previous version updates of Thunderbird. I downgraded my copy of Thunderbird back to v78.10.2, and the problem was a little different, but better.

When I opened a message in a new window using Thunderbird 78.11.0 on Windows 10 (21H1) it did open maximized.
I grabbed the top bar with the subject, minimize, maximize and close icons, and moved moved it down a bit.
The window resized on its own when I did that. (My Firefox does the same)
The Maximize buttons tool tip with the window full screen is "Restore Down", maybe I had resized the window before and that was triggered even though I wasn't anywhere near it.
With that smaller window I could grab the top, bottom, sides and top corners of the window and resize it with the expected resize arrows.
I could also right-click in the top bar, select the "Size" context menu item to resize the window.
Each succeeding message I opened in a new window opened to the resized setting.
Sorry, I can't confirm the bug report and don't have Windows 7 to test on.
Does the same issue present itself in safe mode using Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled?

Hi Alan,
as Walt said, we are failing to reproduce your problem, and it does not sound like a bug in Thunderbird at all.
I think what you are seeing is default behaviour of any window in windows.
What I am seeing on Win 10 is this (all working correctly) - given that per your summary, you have also reported this against Windows 10:
- Thunderbird will open messages in a window roughly in whichever size, position and state the last focused message window had. If your last focused message window was maximized, next message will open maximized, if not, then not, and sizes and positions accordingly (position may change for stacks of windows).
- Drag any maximized window by its title bar and it will automatically restore itself to the last-used window size.
- If in window size, resizing and dragging around works correctly.
- Other bells and whistles, like if you shake a window by its title bar, all other windows will be minimized.

Alan, also, as you are new here, some hints:
- your bug title (aka summary) does not seem to match your problem description

The issue of this Bug was Closed Quickly. I am working and I cannot reply to your questions/concerns as quickly.
Our configurations is:
Windows 7 Professional
Thunderbird v78.11.0 (64-Bit)
I can reproduce this bug repetitively. So you can see it, would you like me to produce a video to show the problem?
What happens if you open 'Notepad' and maximise and then try to drag down ?
I'm thinking this sounds more like a setting in Windows OS. Windows 7 Professional has something called aero snap.
Suggest you disable it and then see how you get on.

When I start Notepad it opens a blank page that is the same size as the last page I edited with Notepad.
When started, the new page is 6 inch by 6 inch. When I maximize it, it takes up the whole screen. When I click-on and hold the mouse button down on the title bar, and start to drag that maximized page down, the width and height automatically changes back to the 6" by 6" size and allows me to drag it to where ever I want to place it.
I received an email sent to my personal email address. The key piece of information you sent to me in email is:
When it opens, it's window is horizontally about ½ of the width of the monitor screen, and vertically that window's top edge is from the top of the monitor screen, and that window's bottom edge extends below the bottom of the monitor screen.
- "The window's bottom edge extends below the bottom of the window."
You did not mentioned this in the comments you posted in this bug report.
It sounds like it is snapping back to perhaps original remembered position, which was mostly off screen below Task Bar.
After it has done this weird jump to eg: half screen and bottom edge still below Task Bar....click on Top part of window in the 'Title Bar' area, hold down to grab and drag entire window up. I am not talking about extending the top edge - physically move entire window up so bottom edge is now above the Task bar. Then drag top or bottom to correct the window size.
