Details

(Whiteboard: QA-not-reproducible)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0

Steps to reproduce:

I have two computers with Firefox: One desktop and one laptop. Both are logged in to Firefox Sync. If I create a bookmark on either computer and move that bookmark to a specific folder, everything looks okay until I start Firefox on the other computer.

Actual results:

When I start Firefox on the other computer, the bookmark is back to the main bookmarks menu on both computers. I then have to move the bookmark a second time.

Expected results:

The bookmark should stay in the folder I put it, even after I open Firefox on the other device.

Hey Daniel,
I'm trying to reproduce this on the latest versions of Firefox Nightly 91.0a1 (2021-06-09), beta 90.0b5 and release 89.0 but there are no issues for me. Make sure you sync the profiles so that the changes come into effect. I've cross checked this on Windows to Ubuntu.

You can alsy try this on a fresh new profile. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .
If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .

The issue was caused by the "default bookmarks folder" addon.
