Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0

Steps to reproduce:

I just made the mistake of telling this piece of crap to "Update and Restart".

Actual results:

It did, but now it doesn't show any tabs and the back arrow is grayed out.

Expected results:

None the 4 tabs that I had opened reopened. It picked one at random and opened that one. It's possible that was the one that was being viewed at the time.

I googled how to force it to show tabs and went to about:config and turned on browser.search.openintab, browser.urlbar.openintab, and browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs trying to force the issue but still don't have tabs. I have relied on those 4 tabs being open on this computer, but now a number of things I need to keep running don't. Hell, I can't even go see what version this damn thing updated to because I might not be able to get back to this page.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Session Restore' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Are you using custom CSS (userChrome.css) to change the UI? That should be the only explanation for this type of behavior.

I just tried to close Firefox and reopen it to try for a fresh run and found out that it wanted me to close 21 tabs! None of these tabs show up anywhere on my screen. Apparently the tabs open, but only the current one shows up anywhere.

It put the little box for the current tab in the lower-left corner of the screen instead of the top like it's supposed to and none of the others show up even though it thinks they are running somewhere.

Yes. I've always used a custom CSS to show only the icon of the tab that is opened instead of the long name and to put the tabs below the bookmark toolbar where they belong (no matter where you guys think it should go)

OK. I just took out the css file i've been using for years that you just decided to make stop working so you could force us to use the fuggly new look and the tabs are showing up again. i guess you can file this under the usual "ignore because we forced them to do what we want" category.

i'm gonna start taking another look at chrome and even that craptacular IE to see if i can get the new versions to act like i want them to. if so, you'll lose yet another longtime user.
