User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0
Steps to reproduce:
browser.search.widget.inNavBar true / default = false
browser.search.openintab = true / default = false
Actual results:
The old widget search is active (browser.search.widget.inNavBar true / default = false)
the tabs are opened in a new windows (browser.search.openintab = true / default = false)
Is it better to set the browser.search.widget.inNavBar false per default to true and could you change the option to browser.search.openintab = true after Setup.
Expected results:
i switched from chrome to firefox again. The old Settings for firefox are better than the new ones. The uniqueness of firefox should be awared.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Search' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi, thank you for the feedback.
Whilst some people do indeed like the separate search bar, we've generally found that it is not widely used, which is why it is not enabled by default, and why we changed the default a while ago. Also the experience in the address bar has now improved allowing search-only modes, which it didn't have before.
I also think we would be unlikely to change the "open in tab" default, since for instance the general expectation of the address bar is that it controls the tab you're in, which you can then translate across to the search bar, which should also behave for the tab you're in by default.
Hence I'm closing this as won't fix, as I don't see us changing these.
