User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0
Steps to reproduce:
Trying to select the option "Use Thunderbird without an email account" (similar to "Use Outlook without an email account" option in Microsoft Outlook) in the "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" dialog.
Actual results:
Every time Thunderbird is opened need to cancel the email setup prompts as there is no way to let Thunderbird know that no email is required.
Expected results:
Once "Use Thunderbird without an email account" has been selected, with no email addresses setup requests:
- open .eml files in Thunderbird without cancelling all the setup email account requests
- use Thunderbird calendar without setting up email address
- look at contacts in the Address Book or Cardbook add-on
Attached file, "Use Outlook without an email account" option in Microsoft Outlook, is from https://www.systoolsgroup.com/updates/use-outlook-without-email-account/
Please add option to select the "Use Thunderbird without an email account" option (similar to "Use Outlook without an email account" option in Microsoft Outlook) to "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" dialog.
Attachment is a screenshot of "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" dialog.
Thank you
Microsoft Outlook allows the opening of a profile with no email by:
Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, then type (or paste) Outlook.exe /PIM profilename and then click OK. Note: if the profile name you use contains spaces, you'll need to use quotes around it: Outlook.exe /PIM "profile name"
- Outlook.exe /PIM profilename
- Outlook.exe /PIM "profile name"

Can the same please be available in Thunderbird?
Thunderbird is no longer just an email client; Thunderbird is a PIM (Personal information manager) with in the inclusion of the calendar module and improvements to the Address Book.
@aleca It is understood that you created the new and improved account setup dialogs in Thunderbird. Can you please implement support for no email accounts in the Thunderbird account setup dialogs? Thank you

I don't think adding a checkbox option is what we want.
Maybe we can consider not triggering the account setup on future startups if it gets dismissed.
Magnus, what do you think?

I agree we would like to support the use case of letting people use Thunderbird without an email account.
Not sure exactly how to handle that. There's a lot of smaller cases when that would need to be considered; mainly not related to the account setup.
Can the status of this issue please be changed from UNCONFIRMED to NEW?
Should prefs
be added to enable/disable and show/hide the Set Up Your Existing Email Address
? This might be useful for enterprise administrators.
What do you think?
Thank you
