Steps to reproduce:
Download a file.
Expected results:
Offer the possibility for a user to "convert" a file to a different format when trying to download.
e.g., I try to download an image that is in .jpg format. The download prompt, besides asking where to save the file, has an optional feature to download and convert the image in .png or .webm format. It would only save the resulting converted image, not the original. (I suppose you could configure the behavior)
Benefits:
-Increased adoption for new technologies, such as JPEG XL, if offered:

-Firefox could suggest conversions for some things, such as JPEG XL for images, saving space and increasing performance overall in the long run. Thinking out loud here, but it could even 'deprecate' formats if FF really tried to be a middle man, increasing adoption of better technologies (including royalty free ones).
-Tech for this already exists in open source format, the only issue would be the creating the UI, defining behavior, possible conversions (e.g. include doc to pdf?), and seeing performance impact on FF (could be done in a different process? Don't know)
