Please provide clear and specific steps to reproduce.
As I said already, I didn't do anything beside letting the browser automatically update.
I'm on version 89.0.2 (64-bit) in Win 10 pro with the spell checker on, but the spell checker doesn't do anything: no highlights in red, nothing.

And spellchecker is enabled?
with the spell checker on
means that the spellchecker is enabled, yes..................
(Just in case you didn't notice: this bug reporting experience is pretty lengthy and frustrating)

I apologize the delay in triaging.
Do you have some exact steps to reproduce? Or which language are you using?
I can't reproduce this on Windows nor on Linux.
I don't know if my expectation from a spellchecker in a browser is too high then.
I tried it in whatsapp web, it doesn't highlight misspells. I tried in Google search and startpage and it doesn't highlight errors. I tried here in bugzilla and some gibberish like "sjkfeowiyuw" isn't highlighted.
The language of FF is set to English (United Kingdom) (but the gibberish above should not exist in any language, anyway).
I'll give you the list of the extensions I use, at this point it's the only thing I can think could be a problem:
- Dark Reader
- Dictionary Anywhere
- Firefox Multi-Account Containers (is on)
- I don't care about cookies
- LastPass: Free Password Manager
- Okta Browser Plugin
- Translate Web Pages
- uBlock Origin
- Web Search Navigator
Tell me if there's more info I can supply.
Out of curiosity, how is it going on this one? A spell checker is quite important these days, so I'd say there's some urgency.
Why is it so hard to communicate with you? I don't understand it. Isn't it in your best interest to get people to report issues to keep improving the product? If that's the case, why do you make people feel like they are wasting their precious time when reporting?
You can close this bug report, as after some fiddling around it turned out that removing and re-adding English from "Language/Set alternatives..." made the spell checker work again.
