Right now there's no way other than memory to tell which search mode you're in.
 It would be nice to have the icon change as you switch between search modes -
perhaps a G for google (or whatever icon is associated with the default search
engine) and the magnifying glass for Find in Page.

Yeah, the search box which you can add to the Toolbar via Customize Toolbar.

I guess this got fixed between my 20020929 build and the time I filed the bug
yesterday :)
