User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.22; Mac_PowerPC)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020910
When I load web pages with *POLYTONIC* unicode Greek (a.k.a. Ancient Greek) certain
accent and letter combinations show up as "?" and with others, the accents are not
spaced placed properly over the letter they are accenting. This problem is demonstrated
and documented at: http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~pinax/unicodeMac.html#applications
Additionally, it is commented about as a specific Mozilla problem at:
http://www.stoa.org/unicode/quickstart.html
"Netscape and the Mozilla open source community are currently working on adding
Unicode support to the Mozilla and Netscape 6.x browsers for Macintosh OS X. In OS X,
Mozilla has flawed Unicode support (for instance, the pi is rendered wrongly in many
fonts)."
Netscape and the Mozilla open source community are currently working on adding
Unicode support to the Mozilla and Netscape 6.x browsers for Macintosh OS X. In OS X,
Mozilla has flawed Unicode support (for instance, the pi is rendered wrongly in many
fonts).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Load any Unicode Greek Web page with ancient Greek (polytonic Greek)
2
3.
Actual Results:
Polytonic Greek characters appear as "?" and some accents do not appear properly over
the characters.
Expected Results:
Shown all characters in the Polytonic Greek Unicode character set. Formatted the Greek
text appropriately.
I am using OSX version 10.1.5.

Apart from Mozilla being a CFM antiquity with h o r r i b l e, absolutely
non-Mac OS X rendering of everything but plain old American SCII, do you have
the proper fonts installed? For full support of Greek Extended (with polytonos)
only Code 2000, Arial Unicode MS, and Cardo will do. Authors of Greek pages
should specify these fonts in a class in the style sheet to set a preference for
good fonts.
WorksForMe using Chimera/2002100104 on 10.1.5, probably because I have a font
installed that actually contains the characters, as Niklas describes in comment 2.
Theodore, if you can't type it in another application, Mozilla won't display it.
Mozilla doesn't contain it's own fonts, it just uses what you have installed.

This screen shot was sent by reporter, thanks Theo!
It's definitely not reproduce for me on lastest trunk build.
Yes, I think it's because reporter doesn't has the right font in his machine,
and we should resolve this as works for me.

Adding fonts to OS X /library/fonts did the trick to solve this
