Details
Pref changes through UI to "Automatically compact folders when it will save over N kB" don't stick. Note: if migrated profile has pref (mail.promt_purge_threshhold)enabled/true, the 5.0 pref UI will show the pref enabled, but doesn't pick up value for N (mail.purge_threshhold). In the latter case, a 5.0 user cannot disable the pref through the UI. 1. Launch 5.0/seamonkey to messenger. 2. Edit|Prefs|Mail&News|Disk Space. Change the enabled state of the first pref "Automatically compact folders when it will save over N kB" and set a value for N. Confirm OK to prefs dialog. 3. Open prefs dialog again and check prefs: the changes didn't stick. Exit and relaunch after changing pref doesn't do anything for you either. 4. A look at the 5.0 prefs.js file reveals changes haven't been written to the file.

This bug won't be valid since we are not doing this feature in this release. See bug #17204, bug #40504 and mail prefs spec (revised to show this removed, actually the whole panel will be removed and the only pref left partial download) will be moved to main mail/news panel).

Yes. Based on the Preference UI Spec: http://gooey/client/5.0/specs/mail/Prefs/Preferences.html This feature won't be in this release. I am just marking as verified to close this bug.
