17209 - "Failed to create/get transport" for any url not local

On viewer, on mac only:
   get the error "Failed to create/get transport" for any url not local.

I checked with sdagley, so I'm not the only one seeing this.
My mac build is from friday. sdagley's is from yesterday.

Gordon: Do you see this problem?
Steve: I don't think the mac build is completely broken w.r.t. loading URLs
from the net, right? So what do you mean?

This problem is specific to Viewer (Apprunner is working fine) and my mail to the
hook on the issue didn't get any response.  Today's builds no longer assert
though, you just get nothing loaded and the throbber animates forever.  Viewer is
still handling events though as you can select menu items (such as a local test
case)

Just to add more data to today's behavior:

When entering a URL for a non-local web page the status line at the bottot of the
Viewer window changes to "Connecting to http://whateverurlyoutyped"

Using OTSessionWatcher to monitor network traffic in/out of the Mac I'm not
seeing any sort of request being sent (the tool doesn't monitor DNS lookup though
so I don't know if that's happening or not)

I can successfully browse external sites with the current version of Viewer (and
AppRunner too, for that matter).
