Steps to reproduce:
- Enter a searchterm oder a website adress in the search bar
- Use the arrow ap/down keys to select a poposed website
- Press Enter
- Press Crtl+T for a new Tab (quiet fast)
- Selected website from the dropdown menue is also copied into the new tab
It's quiet annoying if you wanna open several tabs in a row.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.
Hi michael,
this bug is regarding the search bar in toolbar right? not the URL bar.
Search bar in toolbar is enabled by going into about:preferences#search and selecting "Add search bar in toolbar"
if that is the case we already have an open bug for that asking the text to be cleared after a search is performed
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253331
please let me know if im in the correct area.

Hi Pablo,
I don't know how its exactly called, but I think it's the URL bar.

Hi michael,
i was unable to reproduce this bug on my windows 10 64bit computer using firefox release 91.0
What i did was to open a tab, search for "cats" selected one of the options in the dropdown suggestions, then hit enter key. I pressed control+T really fast and the new tab came empty without data in the url bar.
If the issue still persists, please test it using a new profile, you can find the steps to do that below:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager
Does this issue occur in the latest nightly version of firefox? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
Please let me know
thanks
