Steps to reproduce:

A common use case is mostly a domain name like "t-online" or such.
In this case, whether writing "t online" t-online or "t-online" and whatever tried and not found with a quick google search or app manual

Actual results:

It find messages containing just the string "online"

Expected results:

Find messages with only "t-online" or "t?online" where in latter case, the question mark can be any non-word character. Maybe rename the Engine from Gloda to an appropriate name?

Yeah, Global search can find you the needle in the haystack, but only if it's willing...

Personally for most everyday uses, I find searching via TB's Quick Filter Bar in the current folder sufficient and superior - will respect your search input to the dot... Have you tried using Quick Filter Bar for searching? (Ctrl+Shift+K)

The Search Engine Servers deliver, just need to remove the pedophile content from output and have ours back...

The issue is, that I work with multiple mailboxes, so that is not a replacement.
Certainly, an International Search Feature there would be sufficient, to do same over all configured mailboxes..

yes, exactly that...
I also have MS Outlook 2019 which I like and was generally recommended as E-Mail client for Windows PC or Notebook.
Sadly there is a bug or missing document hint on how Outlook 2019 can server-side fed for auto-discovery to work properly, otherwise I would have quickly migrated my accounts.
But anyway, I think on Linux Thunderbird is interesting, or for someone not buying MS Office package.

i can confirm, that the problem with minus in search phrase is still not fixed with Thunderbird Version 91.10.0 here.
For example:
I need to search for a number in subject like "303-83676782-806435" -> thunderbird gives me no results.
If i would search only "83676782" i can find it in the results... but sometimes this is not enough to distinguish.
