The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::PDF Viewer' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

I can't seem to reproduce, the rendering looks fine to me.
Can you attach a screenshot?

The problem of high CPU and memory usage with this specific PDF seems to have been fixed in Latest Nightly by Bug 1722352.
See attached.
The CPU/memory problem is severe on my laptop, which may be related to this issue

Could you try with Firefox Nightly, so we can confirm this bug is fixed for you too?
How do I access Firefox Nightly ?
Somewhat better using 91.0b7
The pdf does render eventually - several minutes later, with nothing else running.
Still is killing my laptop which has 12G memory.
Not sure what is going on here.
Again, no issue with Adobe Reader, Chrome or Edge. On all of these, the page comes up almost instantly.
Dramatic difference with them and Firefox.
I have a new laptop on order. I'll see if things are better on it once it arrives and is set up, but I doubt it.

You can download Nightly from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/desktop/.
The changes from bug 1722352, which maybe fixed this, are also in latest Beta (the next one, Beta 8. The one you're testing with is Beta 7).

The regression range is https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=940a3ad12e3dc9b2809b02f6a8ac8e941a50d2a1&tochange=6f1d11e15050a7c997ae4eefe944e2800b42bdfa, I didn't go further as bug 1711106 is very likely the culprit.

Just auto-updated to 91.0b8.
The rendering now is way faster- several seconds- and accurate.
Still slower than with the other apps, but I can live with that.
Looks like this bug is resolved.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks! So this is fixed by the pdf.js update from bug 1722352, in particular by https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/pull/13770.

I have confirmed the issue in Firefox Release v90.0.2 and I have verified the fix in Firefox Beta v91.0b9 and Firefox Nightly v92.0a1 from 2021-07-30.
