User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log in at mail.google.com
  2. Ensure Gmail Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts are on
  3. Refresh Gmail window
  4. Type "/" to enter the search bar
  5. Type and hold "d" or "D"

Actual results:

"D" shortcut behavior incorrectly fires. (A new Compose tab opens and focus is switched there.)

I repro this in Firefox Troubleshooting Mode. I don't repro it in Chrome. It is intermittent but I can repro it within ~30 seconds of trying with high consistency. It comes up multiple times a day when using Gmail in Firefox and is quite disruptive.

Typing "c" or "C" will also repro (showing the window-in-window Compose box).

Video attached - I'm refreshing once, typing "/" once, then holding "d" or "D". Repros on third try.

Version: 91.0b9 (64-bit), MacOS 11.4

Expected results:

Typing into search box should never activate keyboard shortcuts.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Cocoa' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Cocoa
Product: Firefox → Core

Also repro'd on the first try in Nightly: 92.0a1 (2021-08-02) (64-bit)

It would be interesting to hear if this reproduces on other platforms, such as Windows.
