The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

I'm not so sure if my bug is a duplicate of this bug. My bug was that selected tabs look the same as the active tab. There is a very slight difference in colour that I only found out about by using an eyedropper.
The colour of the active tab isn't relevant to my issue although I don't understand why Firefox isn't respecting my Windows setting to show colour in titlebars anymore.

The Windows setting to show colours in the titlebar is bug 1701266.

You picked out a completely irrelevant part of my comment. so confused. neither issue is about this issue that i opened right here.

Then describe in detail why the duplicate is not this bug. Writing I'm not so sure... isn't really convincing.

Note that the duplicate is still open so you could simply wait till that's fixed and then see if that does or doesn't fix things for you.

I originally intended to post that comment on that other issue and just copied and pasted here, hence the grammatical errors which may have confused you.
That bug's title: it's less easy to distinguish the current tab since activation of proton
My bug clearly says: you cannot tell if a tab is selected or active.
This could be the same as the other bug, in that changing the appearance of active tabs would solve it. However, my issue is not with active tabs, and is with the appearance of selected tabs. I can see the other bug being marked as won't fix (like the bug about the accent colour preference not being respected on Windows), but this is a real accessibility issue.
If they don't close that as won't fix, here's a chance that the developers and designers may make the same changes they make to the active tab to selected tabs and nothing will change for this bug.
There is actually a difference between the colours of a selected tab and the active tab, but I only found out by checking with an eyedropper and not by eye on multiple screens. They look identical to a normal eye on the default light theme on Windows.
I wrote "I'm not so sure" because I wanted to hear you reasoning on why this bug is the same as that one. I can see one argument in favour of yours, but J don't know if that is your perspective and because I had said why that still isn't reason to close this as a duplicate of that bug.
Hope you understand me now. :)

Hey Poopooracoocoo,
Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode? You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .
Also a fresh new profile could help. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .
If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .

I installed Nightly a while ago (some time in August I think) and had a fresh profile and still saw this issue.

Hey Poopooracoocoo,
Does this issue still occur for you or should we close it?

On version 97.0.1 I can still see this issue. It appears no changes have been made to address this.

Since this is the intended behavior I will open this issue as an Enhancement, maybe a slight blur or a slightly different color on the selected tabs would cause less confusion for our users.
I tried using color picker for the Active Tab and the Selected tab but it didnt show a different color, on my side the only difference in selection is a slightly bigger blue outline.
