The speed of the autoscroll is proportional to the distance between the anchor and the current mouse position. So, you already have control over the speed, by how far you move the mouse from the anchor.
If, with that in mind, you still believe it's too fast (e.g. even a small movement of the mouse away from the anchor causes a high-speed scroll), could you please attach a screen recording to illustrate the issue / quantify the speed? Thanks!
So, you already have control over the speed, by how far you move the mouse from the anchor.
If you have coordination problems, you can slip, lose control of the speed, get a sudden headache due to the sudden fast scrolling, have trouble regaining control due to the headache, and lose your place.

Bug 1954212 is on file about adding an about:config preference to customize the autoscroll speed, which could help here.
