This bug has been persistent since migrating from 1.0 to 1.1 and after flushing all registry entries, profile instances and any reference to mozilla, in general, even a fresh install and reloading Certificates and setting up SSL identically to when running 1.0 I get the famous Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server xxxx.reanimality.com (xxxx removed for obvious reasons) failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try again, or else contact your network administrator. Well Here are some knowns: OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600 After researching the Mail/News TroubleShoot Document I decided to add some Debugging Environment Variables as recommended Variables: NSPR_LOG_MODULES Value: SMTP:5 Variables: NSPR_LOG_FILE Value: c:\tmp\SMTPLog.txt After testing and resulting in the next round of Error Alerts the File output the following cryptic information. 0[274160]: SMTP Connecting to: xxxx.reanimality.com (xxxx removed for obvious reasons) Any help would be much appreciated. Two other systems have been tested to run Moz1.2a perfectly well with SSL Enabled via SMTP. And of course the certificate manages the port information with the Server.
have the same problem with build id 2002110208 win2k
Updated results on this "bug." Known: * ISP Earthlink using Mindspring.com's network connection * Colleague requested me to do a simple telnet session to our network via my remote location on port 25--it failed * Colleague determined that Earthlink is blocking all SMTP traffic on Port 25 thus spurious bug error * Colleague tested and determined port 465 to be open so he requested I edit my SMTP Port to 465 * Ran test email and PRESTO! All is Well. I suggest you determine what via SMTP ports are open via your ISP and then test if this bug is still valid

I tested it using various internet connections to my box at home, which perfectly works with outlook, outlook express, entourage (macosx)/ stunnel... This just doesn't work with mozilla. I get an connect on the server site, but nothing furthermore.
Known to work via port 465 for me is the following Build ID: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021023
