Steps to reproduce:
Updated my Thunderbird to 92.0 Beta 3 (20210823173239). Using inbox with no pre-view.
Actual results:
All new emails are displayed as read in POP3 accounts. In Imap accounts, everything works normally.
Expected results:
New emails should be displayed in the inbox as unread.

Some people would take betting odds that you are using bitdefender.
It's a widely reported issue.

Hi Clemens, thanks for reporting back. Your problem is caused by Bitdefender as it scans your incoming messages for spam. Nothing that Thunderbird can do about that. Please find a solution in support:
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird
- search for
Bitdefender
- probably find that the only solution is to turn off the Anti-spam on Bitdefender
