Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:92.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/92.0
Steps to reproduce:
-
Open Firefox Settings:
Under Applications, "Choose how Firefox handles the files you download from the web or the applications you use while browsing.") set "Open in Firefox" for entry "Portable Document Format (PDF)" -
Open a new Private Window (the following will not happen in regular Firefox window).
-
Visit arbitrary two pages, e.g. A. html and B.html, such that B.html has a link to some PDF file, e.g. C.pdf.
Actual results:
When you hit the Back button twice, you will get:
B.html and C.pdf in that order
and if you continue to press Back button you will get into a loop
B.html C.pdf B.html C.pdf ...
This started in last 3 or maybe more versions of Firefox (9x.0 and maybe 89.0, I can't remember now).
Expected results:
When you hit the Back button twice, you should get
B.html and A.html in that order,
like you do in regular Firefox window

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::PDF Viewer' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

I could not reproduce this issue, tried on Windows 10 x64 using the latest Nightly 94.0a1 and Firefox 92. In my attempt to reproduce this I navigated to Wikipedia, then clicked on an article, and after that on a pdf link from the References section (while in a private window). Clicking the back button twice took me to the main Wikipedia page and not to the pdf.
Miskoy, please can you confirm whether you reproduce this issue using Firefox in safe mode or with a new profile?

This issue could also be site-related so if it's possible, could you please provide a link to the site you are seeing this behavior?
