Details

(Whiteboard: [filterfail])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/93.0.4577.63 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Create filters that move inbox arriving messages to folders based on subject for one filter, and from email address to another filter

Actual results:

Inbound messages matching criteria stay in inbox and operator must manually run the filter, despite filter criteria is checked on for "when getting new mail."

Expected results:

Messages should have been moved to appropriate folder.

For example: Subject (matches any of the following) contains blocked
move message to
folder blocked

For example: Subject contains (matches any of the following) contains abuse
move message to
folder blocked

What DOES work is:
from (match all of the following) contains this-email-address@domain.com
move message to
folder Bricks

  1. Tediously went through all the folders and deleted unnecessary past emails to reduce overall size of Thunderbird, which did bring it's overall size down significantly.
  2. Deleted said emails from trash.
  3. Tediously went through Thunderbird and removed all necessary attachments which further significant reduced overall footprint of the application.
  4. Re-indexed everything.
  5. Re-checked and double-checked the filters to make sure they were input properly and made sure they were not complex filters, i.e., multiple pathways or folders.
  6. Deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite and rebuilt it from scratch.
  7. Deleted then rebuilt msgFilterRules.dat in all folders.
  8. Rebuilt the filters which work, but then;
  9. Fail on subsequent runs.

jeffs, is this still failing with version 91?

Yes and no. It filters on every opening of the application, except for the main account, which requires me to execute "get all messages" again.

Thanks for the follow up.

Does this still happen? With version 102?
Does it still happen after you click "Filter Log" and "Clear Log"?
