User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:92.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/92.0
Steps to reproduce:
Can not view email addresses in the inbox or any other folder, only names. I have unchecked "Show only display name for people in my address book" but that only affects opened messages, not the list of messages.
Actual results:
Unchecking "Show only display name for people in my address book" only affected opened messages, not the lists of messages.
Expected results:
Unchecking "Show only display name for people in my address book." is not working as intended as it only affects opened messages. It should also affect all lists of messages
This is both inconvenient and a security problem. It is important to be able to decide if to delete a message without opening.

Reporter, does this still fail for you when using version 102 or newer version?
Hi I'd like to bump this issue. It is still present in 102.9.0.
This is a security problem, similar to windows hiding file extensions by default. Our customers have encountered several non-related attempts to forge email from the company boss. Those emails had this header "From: Real Name of the Boss <fraudster@gmail.com>". The recipient can see only "Real Name of the Boss" in the message list. The true email address is shown only in the header of opened email (either 3-pane or separate tab/windows), and fortunately also in the compose window when writing a reply. But it would be best if the true email address is revealed in the message list, because that is the first thing seen by the recipient, as he/she may not check again in the message/reply window.
So the switch in original post should be made to affect the message list in the first place. Also it could be made a combo of multiple options:
- show only email address
- show both the arbitrary name provided by sender and email (that's what is now currently shown in message window header if unchecked)
- show the name from my address book and email (if present, optionally ignore automatically collected addresses)
- show only the name from my address book (if present, optionally ignore automatically collected addresses) - current behavior in message window if checked
- show only the name provided by sender - that is the current behavior in message list and the most dangerous one
Also integrating DKIM verifier plugin into mainstream would be good for this case.
Best regards
