User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:92.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/92.0
Steps to reproduce:
Click a link to download a file.
Actual results:
A dialog appeared asking me what I want to do even though the "do this automatically" preference is already checked.
Expected results:
It should automatically launch the program specified by the "do this automatically" preference without asking for user input.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::File Handling' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.
this seems like a duplicate of a known enhancement that has been going for some time
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453455
It does seem very similar to being a duplicate but that bug is requesting an enhancement to change default behavior and this bug is a defect for existing behavior that's broken.
FF asks the user if they would like to do it automatically, the users instructs it to do it automatically by clicking the checkbox, and it disregards the user's instruction by repeating showing the dialog with the user's instruction checked.
Looks like this issue has been reported in the past on many other bugs. For example on bug 1668182 and bug 1702084 and all of them have been resolved as a duplicate of bug 453455
I will set this one as a duplicate of bug 453455
thanks.
