Attached file raw data v93.0.txt

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:93.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/93.0

Steps to reproduce:

Update your Firefox from version 92 to 93 in Linux. (64 bit)

(Just some background: In my firefox I use the function "Restore previous session" and I have 3 Firefox windows open. In one of this window I have 1869 tabs. But normally only a few of them are loaded.)

Actual results:

Since version 93.0 (64-Bit) and earlier the language of the menus is set back to English after the update.

But it is possible to set it back to German in with:
Settings in Tools->Settings->General

Expected results:

The language does not change to English when we make an update, but remains German.

about:support shows that you're using Firefox 93, but the language pack is still on 92.0.1. How did you install Firefox, and how did you update it to 93?

What happens if you go to about:addons and manually search for updates?

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Session Restore' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Session Restore

I have installed Firefox via Linux MX package Installer. And I have also made the update via MX package Installer.

It's too late for this because as I have already written above: "But it is possible to set it back to German in with: Settings in Tools->Settings->General". I have done this and it has immediate changed into German. But my expectation is, that German would be automatically remain after an update.

Using the build from mozilla.org should work as updates for language packs are staged before the app updates itself.

Still, it would be important to understand if manually searching for add-on updates solves the issue next time this happens.

I will try manually searching for add-on updates the next time and report.

I could not reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 20.04 x64 machine - in my case, Firefox 93 was updated along with my language packs. Leaving this report Unconfirmed until the reporter comes with updates after updating to Firefox 94.

The severity field is not set for this bug.

Since now we got a new update from 93 to 94 I am able to answer now the following question:

Quote: "What happens if you go to about:addons and manually search for updates?"

Here is the answer:
When I check for updates it immediately changes the language from English into German.
