Details
After manually installing Thunderbird 91 (from Thunderbird 78), an addon wasn't compatible.
It turns out that the latest version of the addon (with compatibility=Thunderbird 91.0 - *) wasn't installed.
Solution: search for addons updates on first start of Thunderbird after an update.
To reproduce:
- Install Thunderbird 78
- Install Emoji 1.78.7 (https://addons.thunderbird.net/fr/thunderbird/addon/emojiaddin/versions/?page=1#version-1.78.7)
- Update Thunderbird to version 91.
Result: Emoji doesn't work anymore.
Expected result: Thunderbird automatically searches and installs Emoji's update for Thunderbird 91.

The add-on declared itself compatible (even in 1.78.7) as compatible with TB91. We did change policy to force add-ons to include a max version setting in the manifest a few weeks ago, but that does not help with older add-ons.
The usual update cycle (once a day) should pick up the new version.
I will have a look if we can enforce updates for all add-ons and not just incompatible add-ons on app upgrade. But I think Firefox removed that deliberately.
