Steps to reproduce:

Start Firefox after a computer restart. It hadn't crashed in the last session, I had just closed it with ctrl+Q, closing several windows at the same time.

Actual results:

The Firefox home is empty, it shows a blank screen on every new tab or window. Settings still show that the Firefox Home is set for homepage/new windows and new tabs.

Besides, my pinned tabs are gone.

This problem persists across browser restarts, and it seems somehow associated to the profile. If I create a new profile, it works again as expected, until the new profile gets somehow corrupted and the same error starts happening there.

Expected results:

The Firefox home shows as usual, my pinned tabs from the previous session are still there.

An additional piece of information: in the corrupted profiles, I'm logged into my Firefox account but the Firefox account icon in the toolbar behaves like it's not logged in: it shows the "sign in", "turn on sync" and "send tab" options, and the icon is the default (a person) and not my profile's (a J). If I press "sing in", it takes me to my FF account settings without going through the login page.

Yet another piece of information: I closed and reopened the browser several times, and the home screen eventually started working, although pinned tabs never came back (expected, because I hadn't reopened them). When this happened, the Firefox account icon works properly too. These look very related.

Besides, I realize that, the first time the problem happened, I had clicked on the Firefox icon but it didn't show any windows; then I clicked again and it showed an empty window with the reported problem. Finally, when I quit the browser (ctrl+Q), it said there were two windows while I could only see one.

Unfortunately I couldn't managed to reproduce this issue to confirm it. I saw many bugs related to pinned tabs disappearance, but this bugs came with other details related to FF account. I'll assign this to "Session restore" component and hopefully someone with more knowledge can take a look at this.
