1735736 - cannot change gmail password

Steps to reproduce:

I installed Thunderbird 91.2.0 (64 nit) on a Windows 10 box. I signed in to gmail and downloaded some 7000 pop3 emails. I backed them up and uninstalled Thunderbird.
Thereafter, I updated my gmail password.
Then, to duplicate a bug with the master password on the backups, I reinstalled Thunderbird.

Actual results:

I entered the master password, which surprised me, and got the message I needed to change the password. The pop-up screen asked for my email address or phone, as Google does. However, it immediately reverted to asking for the email account name or phone. I tried both the address and my phone number, without success. To further compound the issue, I deleted the stored password, which I possibly should have updated locally.

Expected results:

The invalid password message should have popped up with instructions on how to correctly update the password.

When you change the google password at their site, I think they invalidate the OAuth2 ceredentials that clients used.
So when you got back into thunderbird you needed to re-do that setup process.

I'm not sure what you're reporting, it all seems like it's working to me. Thunderbird has no idea you changed the password, nor can you change that from within Thunderbird. All it knows is google says the password was not alright - so we ask you for it again.

AIUI this part of the authentication process is outside of Thunderbird's control
