User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:93.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/93.0

Steps to reproduce:

I tried to request an enhancement to English localizations, at least American English.

Actual results:

en-US is not in the component list under product Mozilla Localizations.

If I don't select a component, I get an error:

The following field is required:

Component

.... And the error modal has the localization issue I'm trying and unable to report.

If I try to, well, I can't.

Expected results:

It should be possible to report en-US localization issues.

As for the original issue:

[en] Option in English to replace "OK" (sic) with "okay"

A lot of dialogues, etc. use "OK" instead of "okay."

  1. The original etymology is disputed. Many imply that okay is older.

  2. The caps are ugly.

  3. "Oll Korrekt" was mocking people's use of English, and I'd rather avoid that, it can sometimes be very ugly.

Please allow users to avoid "OK."

en-US added to component list.

@David
I don't think this should have been done without consulting with that product's owner/triager.

In particular, we shouldn't have en-US under Mozilla Localizations, because nobody is going to fix those issues. en-US is embedded in code, developers for each component need to fix those issues, so bugs need to be filed in individual components or projects (and some of them don't live on Bugzilla).

Can we please revert this change?

Sorry about that. I figured it was a harmless change. The component has been removed.

Thanks!

@MarjaE
Sorry for the back and forth. I realize it might be frustrating, but such a component would become a black hole for the issues reported.

We treat en-US as the source language, that's why it lives in a different place from actual localizations. In some cases developers come up with the text, in others it's the Content Team providing it.

Filing a bug in the component affected, or Firefox::General is it's a general issue in the copy, would be the right way to make sure it's seen and triaged by the right people.

"Filing a bug in the component affected"

But the affected compenent is the wording of certain dialogues...

That dialog belongs to a component. If not, or in doubt, file in Firefox::Untriaged
