User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:95.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/95.0
Steps to reproduce:
I want a trivial menu bar and trivial controls like old Netscape days
Actual results:
A disaster where the menubar has bookmarks on it. See attached image.
Expected results:
A trivial menu bar and trivial "wow bar" that does everything else.

This is not the default menu bar.
Try right click, customize toolbar, and restore defaults. If that' doesn't work, it might be something done by your distribution (which is?).

Distribution is Debian Linux stable. I did make changes to the menubar but could not undo them. I really just wanted the title bar to exist as well as the usual drop down menu bar with nothing fancy. However after making a very few changes the interface seems "stuck" with the mess seen in the picture. I will try to delete the entire ".mozilla" directory from my homedir and also download a new "nightly" tarball and start over.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Dennis, did you manage to solve this or undo the changes?

I deleted the entire .mozilla directory as well as any other local files that seemed to be related to Firefox Nightly. Then did a re-install and started over fresh. That seems to work fine for now. Lets close this as "Dumb User Me" perhaps?
