I suspect this is because of Satchel.

When entering text in an HTML input field, if you hold down Backspace to delete
characters in the field, you will see the caret "flicker" at the far left of the
textfield and then jump back into the correct position.

If you see this in Mozilla, then change the component and reassign to the
appropriate editor person.
This is not specific to Phoenix.  I see this in textareas in Mozilla trunk
builds, on Windows (not sure about other platforms).
