Firefox Update restarts into broken state (tabs wont load etc)

Over the last couple of days, I've had a couple wonky updates on macOS.
I just had a peculiar instance. I manually applied an update (via the hamburger menu); but when Firefox restarted, my restored tab had the right label, but no content. I couldn't navigate anywhere.
I went to make a screencast to open a bug, and as I tried to resize the window, then the browser crashed (crash report).
What's odd to me is that the crash report has a different buildid (20211020093007) than the firefox that restarted after the crash (20211021093631).

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for getting in touch. Can you verify in *about:support * that your firefox is located in the Application directory in the update folder section?

Update Folder is /Users/mgaudet/Library/Caches/Mozilla/updates/Applications/Firefox Nightly

I think it's very likely that this is due to Bug 1736373.
