Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0

Steps to reproduce:

OS: Recent Linux

  1. Open a Thunderbird "New Message" window. Type some text. Hit return to add a Carriage Return
  2. Open LibreOffice Writer. Copy some formatted text and paste it into the message window
  3. Notice that the pasted text came through as Liberation Serif, serif font. We want to change the font back to the default.
  4. Highlight the text and select "Variable Width". It reverts back to Liberation Serif.
  5. Try an alternative method: highlight the text and select Format -> Remove All Text Styles. The font continues to stay as what it was in LibreOffice Writer (Liberation Serif).

Actual results:

The font of the text stayed the same.

Expected results:

What I want is the ability to reset the font of the pasted to the message default instead of setting a specific font.

As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to do this in the current Thunderbird UI, and I am forced to keep the text at either the font it was pasted as, or change it to another font. If I use "paste without formatting", then I lose any URL links, bullets, or other formatting (bold/italic).

This is roughly equivalent to Outlook's "Paste and match style".

There is the Remove Text Styling (of selection) button (next to B U I) in the toolbar.
