I use the setting browser.newtabpage.activity-tream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar false because I prefer it.

Since updating to firefox 94 (it's also the same on 96, I installed a nightly to check) the dropdown of autocompletes and search engine choices does not follow the dark theme or system theme (which is dark for me). Screenshot will be attached.
It was fine in version 93

This pref is no more officially supported and may be removed soon, that's why the UI has not been updated.
