Steps to reproduce:
I just executed Mozilla Thunderbird version 91.2.1 on my workstation.
Actual results:
It increases its memory usage gradually till even more than 5GB (i have a development machine with 32GB RAM).
Expected results:
Not use as much memory (at most 1 GB would make sense but even 1 GB is a lot in my opinion).

Perhaps you have a language pack installed?
This is the screenshot showing the process details (and especially the memory usage = private bytes) of Thunderbird using SysInternals Suite Process Explorer.
We can see that the peak working set is 10.2 GB and it's currently using between 6.0 and 10.2 GB.
This is while enabling (though not displaying) 14 calendars (2 mine in read/write + 12 of my colleagues in read only) that refresh every minute.
Hey Wayne,
Sorry for the late answer but i'll be able to confirm that it was better after Help > Troubleshoot mode, since it was temporarily disabling my plugin "Provider for Google Calendar", and thus disabling all my colleagues calendars that I have previously added. My initial usage dropped to 800 MB.
So I decided to give it a try to remove this plugin, but to add the calendars through CalDav for my colleagues Google calendars. Now i've got 2 calendars for myself (1 professional + 1 personal, both in read-write), and 12 calendars for my colleagues (read only). All of those calendars are refreshing every minute. And the usage became even worse.
You can see it in the screenshot above that, it takes a huge lot of memory. What can I do to improve the situation? I know i can reduce the number of calendars, but this is more a workaround rather than a resolution.
Cheers!

duplicate?
A screenshot from my task manager showing that Thunderbird is using around ~11GB, and not responding.
This is not usable and big drag. I had to kill the process.

Using version 102, please obtain a performance profile using https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiling-thunderbird-performance and post the URL here. Thanks.

You might also try the builds listed at bug 1789999 comment 15, which are based on version 102.
