See attached screenshot.

OS: OSX Catalina
Firefox Nightly (2021-11-04)

Reproduce:

  1. toggle slack huddle on
  2. firefox asks for device permissions, allow access to yahama usb speakerphone
  3. error window pops up in top left hand corner of screen. Window is can not be dragged or closed. Window goes away when huddles is disabled.

The huddle feature does work as I was able to have a conversation.

Thanks for the chat, and for filing this bug!

By default, I don't see any global WebRTC indicator. If I turn on the "WebRTC Global Mute Toggles" experiment in the config, I do see the global indicator, but I do not see the error message on macOS 12.0.1 on the same 2021-11-04 Nightly build.

Mike, you recently worked on the file that has an error here. Do you know what might be causing this, or if there is another indicator that's not enabled by default which I have to turn on to reproduce?

This looks like it's less about the WebRTC indicator itself, and more about the XML parser having a hard time pulling the document out of the omni.ja properly. I think there's a dupe of this bug somewhere, but I can't remember where it is. zibi, do you remember if there's a dupe of this somewhere? I swear we've talked about this before.

Thanks! Either way, this is not a regression of our UA override - so I'm untagging it.

We see YSOD in webrtcindicator.xhtml around 170 events per day. All of them are preceeded by zero_byte_load from Necko with NS_BINDING_ABORTED.

:bwc - this seems to hit us in production, not just tests. Is that the same problem as you were hunting down?

This sounds exactly like bug 1703346 (and bug 1639821, and bug 1714410).

Flags: needinfo?(docfaraday)

Indeed, it does. Let's close this as a duplicate. Thanks everyone!
