User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:94.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/94.0
Steps to reproduce:
I'm running firefox 94.0.1 from ARCH repos.
- go to this page [1] and get prompted to enable drm (a bar at the top)
- close that shit
- refresh the page (or restart the browser, whichever suits you)

Actual results:
the bar (drm prompt) reappears after being closed, explicitly closed
Expected results:
it shouldn't lol

This is the intended behaviour for the DRM prompt as it should re-appear on refresh or re-open so that the user knows it's not activated and the full content of the page might not be available.
If the prompt is enabled then it will not show anymore.
If however you enabled the DRM and the prompt is still occurring then this is an issue.
Can you confirm which behaviour is encountered for you?

I can confirm which behaviour is encountered for me.
But the key phrase here is "explicitly closed", to elaborate - I do not intend to install any drm modules, and there should be a way to communicate that to the browser, because saddening situations like the one I described should not have a right to exist. Leaving things as is would be extremely foolish.
I do have "Play DRM-controlled content" unticked in the settings.
Thank you (in advance) for coming to my TED talk.

Setting a component for this issue in order to get the dev team involved.
If you feel it's an incorrect one please feel free to change it to a more appropriate one.
I believe setting the following prefs to false will hide the prompt:
- media.gmp-widevinecdm.visible
- browser.eme.ui.enabled
Further work around this is tracked in bug 1451762.

(In reply to Bryce Seager van Dyk (:bryce) - away until 2022.02 from comment #4)
I believe setting the following prefs to false will hide the prompt:
- media.gmp-widevinecdm.visible
- browser.eme.ui.enabled
FWIW, either of those work, you don't need both - test page: https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm
