On the page
http://www.papy.uni-heidelberg.de/Hauptregister/FMPro?-db=hauptregister%5f&-format=dformvw.htm&-lay=einzel&-max=1&-token=25&-skip=1799&-find
and all like it, the Java applet on the left-hand side that's used for
navigation doesn't work properly. The URL encoding seems to be the issue.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the specified URL
2.Click in the Java applet on the left-hand side, on one of the pages of the
spiralled "book".
3.Observe the error message. Compare the defective URL with the correct
(original) one.
Actual Results:
An error message is displayed.
Expected Results:
The next (or previous) record should appear.
This problem occurs with FileMaker 4.1 up to and including FileMaker 6. The
behavior with FileMaker 6 is somwhat different in that the bug doesn't result in
an error page, bur rather in a dialog box [JavaScript application] stating:
"Format file not found: no format file was specified".
The problem seems to stem from the fact that Mozilla URL-encodes the ampersand
signs in the URL. This is wrong. The applet works fine with Netscape 4.7, iCab
2.8 and Internet Explorer 5.

Meanwhile I've verified that the bug also exists under OS X 10.2.2. I get the following stack trace when I click in the applet's window:

iCab 2.8.2 works fine.

Under 10.2.1 using the 2002-10-23-08 trunk, I get errors in the Java console but
the applet seems to be functional. I can navigate through the database by
clicking on the spiral pages which loads the next database record. Tested with
the MRJ plugin. Attaching Java console errors.

These stack crawls are in Apple's AWT code. Therefore, this bug isn't something
we can address ourselves.

I don't entirely agree because other browsers (iCab, IE 5.2) handle this
*without* exceptions. So even if there is an underlying bug in Apple's JVM (BTW,
do you report these bugs or am I expected to do that?) there must be something
different in the way you call the JVM ...
You need to log in
before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
