When you try to organize your bookmarks and add a new separator or move an
existing one, the separator goes wherever it wants to, but NEVER at the place
you would want it to. Sometimes, it falls right below a bookmark folder name,
giving the strange impression to cut of the folder in the middle.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select "Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks..." from main menu
2. Click "New Separator" from the toolbar or choose an existing one from the top
of the list
3. Try to move the separator line (top of the list) before a bookmark folder
name or even before a simple bookmark.
Actual Results:
The separator *never* goes where you would want it to. Sometimes, it falls right
below a bookmark folder name, giving the strange impression to cut of the folder
in the middle.
Expected Results:
Separator should go where you want it to, before a Bookmark folder or before a
bookmark.

I can partially confirm on build 20021019 Linux. I can confirm the bit about
placing a bar between a folder and bookmarks in that folder, but I do have
complete control over where the separators are placed (including in an idiotic
place such as the aforementioned position between a folder and its bookmarks).

I can confirm David's comment, but not that of the bug reporter

Simon,
It all depends what build you have tested it with. I must admit that, since my
initial report, based on build #20021014, I've downloaded and installed build
#20021018 (on W2K SP3)and that the separator now seems to work almost normally
(still saw a few glitches that may require further testing though).

Pascal, I'm using yesterdays Nightly under W2k and as I said, there are some
minor glitches just like David said, but nothing as spectacular as mentioned in
your original bug report.
I would suggest changing the bug summary and changing the bug status to NEW.

Yeah Shawn, it's possible to put a separator whereever you want to, but in
certain situations it's not obvious where the separator goes.
Often I want to put a separator between two folders and end up with a separator
at the end of and inside the upper of those two folders. IMO a separator should
only be placed into a folder, if the folder is open and I can see where to put
it. If the folder is closed, it should be put into the roor folder.

The reason behind this bug is almost certainly the same reason as bug 175404.
Marking as NEW though.
